Our Capuchin Crypts Tour starts with thousands of carefully arranged skeletons – and only gets darker from there. The ghosts of Rome are waiting. Try not to trip over them.
Join us on a Capuchin Crypts Tour that starts with bones, and only gets stranger from there.
Tucked away on one of Rome’s most elegant streets is a chapel decorated with the remains of over 3,500 Capuchin monks. Skulls, femurs, and pelvises are arranged in patterns so precise they’d impress Michelangelo – if he were into interior design via exhumation. It’s sacred, it’s surreal, and it’s a stark reminder that the Eternal City has always had one foot in the grave.
But don’t get too comfortable. Once we’ve left the crypts, the Capuchin Crypts Tour and Rome’s Dark Centre continues into the shadows of central Rome, where things get even more unsettling.
As the sun slips away, we head into the heart of the city. Along the way, you’ll uncover ghost stories and dark legends lurking behind the postcard views.
You’ll hear of a young nobleman whose ghost may still haunt the Trevi Fountain, possibly murdered to keep a shameful secret buried. In Piazza Navona, the ghostly hand of a noblewoman is said to appear at her former window, the legacy of a tale involving beauty, jealousy, and a particularly talkative innkeeper. And by the Pantheon? Let’s just say some sausages are better left unexamined. Every corner hides a story, and our Capuchin Crypts Tour makes sure you don’t miss the ones Rome would rather forget.
This Capuchin Crypts Tour isn’t a typical sightseeing stroll. It’s a walk through the Eternal City’s stranger side, where truth and legend blur, and the dead don’t always stay quiet.
We don’t just show you the Capuchin Crypts — we bring them to life (figuratively, of course).

Yes, photos are allowed inside the crypts without flash – we don’t want to shock any of the skeletons
Best tour for the dark history of Rome. Capuchin Crypt was unbelievable to see, the level of details the guide pointed out helped understand the story the monks were telling with their art.
